I think it's going to be way more friendly than wikipedia, and i think, if you have time to make it a project, you can boost both yourself and your community by taking it seriously.
It's by Seth Godin, who is a major phenomenal marketer (and who is totally awesome and one of my heros), and who did Squidoo.com, which got pretty big.
