a lot to say without a lot of words. i started taking vitamins and meditating. ok, so sometimes simple solutions can help, got it. two days of that sort of basic self care with some calls and talking and thinking and i am actually feeling better even though the context that was pulling me into panic hasn't changed. this is good. feeling bouncy, chatty, having to rein that in a bit so that i can get some work done and not feel inefficient. thinking about writers, writing, and feeling energy around it all. so much energy in fact, that i want to ask you - what is your favorite book of poetry? doesn't have to be the most meaningful or best written, but your favorite. the one that is like a favorite blanket to curl up with when you want to feel good, brainy, and in love with words. i am in the middle of a book by Mary Oliver, and once done, want to read some new people, want to branch out. there are always new poets to read, and poets that i should have read by now and haven't, so... whaddya say folks? my warm blanket book of poetry, it brought back my respect for words and my own journey with them: Scrambled Eggs & Whiskey by Hayden Carruth.

if we all took our vitamins, i think we could take over the world...

i was looking and finally found more, almost accidentally, about an old friend, an ex friend online. damn i miss her. but some ties don't ever get mended, no matter how the hearts are feeling. anyway, looking and seeing trends, how close and yet not our circles and aesthetics are. she is shiny latex fetish for haute couture fashion. i am rowdy leather for fun with tattoos. yes, we both have tattoos and piercings. she is more Goth, where as i tend towards accidental goth. she is bisexual sex positive, i am queer sex positive. we have worked for the same places and even when we were roommates, we were so close and yet our circles barely intersected. it's still that way.

just...
interesting.

sometimes i wish i could turn time around.
i wish i hadn't been so scared and young and not knowing how to take care of myself except to cut her off. funny thing, when you cut someone off, sometimes, you can't have them back.

some basic information readers of this LJ should know:
1.
the evil downstairs neighbor is GONE. GONE GONE GONE GONE!!!!

2.
mom's surgery was good, the remaining cells are irregular, radiation may be avoidable, second opinions are being got, diagnosis are good, blood pressure is still scary high, but medication is being adjusted - ie it's looking up!

3.
the niece - it looks like the under developing lung issue is going to be handled by medication, so no big surgery, her heart is still enlarged, they are working on figuring out a non-invasive solution there as well. she probably still has shone's but for now, the diagnosis is better.

from the pantryslut
1. How did you end up in San Francisco?
well, i wanted to move to NYC, and my boyfriend convinced me that i would like SF and be more likely to find dykes to date in SF. so when hunting for college internships, the one in SF at on our backs is the one that came through. i enjoyed my summer fling with SF (though no girl flings were had :( ) and after school, when i landed the second worst job ever at the office manager for DM International in Phoenix, i knew i had to leave, and SF was a one day drive away. tada. here i am :)

2. How did you meet muy_macha?
we worked at different film fests in the same building. she has to come to our office and ask for a film. i was apparently cranky. but that's standard for me when i am an admin asst. she stuck around and talked to me anyway... thus the spark was born

3. What is your favorite silent film?
from morn to midnight. a surreal german film that was long lost, and rediscovered only in the last five years

4. How did you get interested in the 1920's?
not really sure - the aesthetic and louise brooks always drew me... it was probably cemented when i had cable briefly and could watch turner classic movies and all of the biographies on sexy strong silent film stars they screen

5. What is your favorite (semi-)secret getaway?
fife's ranch in guerneville. i camped there once for a peaches christ thing, arrived at night, and when i woke up and went outside, it was fall. like REAL FALL. wow. not so secret, but i love it.
