question for the peanut gallery
Oct. 14th, 2005 03:27 pmthings are looking up. busy monkey at the work. but, i want to pick your livejournalling brains. a certain someone is having a very important bday coming up on new years day. i am looking into vacation rentals, getting out of town, etc.
so questions are:
1. what is your usual resource for getaway places that don't break the bank?
2. when you had big milestone bdays, what did you do to mark it or make it extra special
ther eis an extra complication since people usually want to celebrate the new year in their own way, and especially this year it would suck to have the bday overshadowed...
ideas very appreciated
(sea ranch is high on the list of possibilities, trying to find just the right options though)

Date: 2005-10-14 03:35 pm (UTC)I'd offer you the key to the Santa Cruz compound, but I don't know that a hill with no electricity or running water is the mister's and your's idea of a fun place to be in the winter.
It might be fun to look at Southwest and just buy the cheapest ticket to some weirdo city and bop around. The breaking the bank version of that includes flying in the right direction so that the bday lasts longer, but okay, ick, flying on your bday isn't so much fun for normal bank accounts.
Hm. Tough one. Ice rink in Yosemite?
For H's 30th, everyone brought 30 of something: kinder eggs, stories, paperclips, Chinese phone books, yards of ribbon, penguin erasers, glow in the dark eyeballs. That sort of thing.
Maybe a friend who is going someplace for NYE could give you their place to use?
