i want to learn to play the accordion
anyone know of
a. a good place to find an inexpensive / used accordion
b. a good place / person to get lessons from

OK, you can totally have it, but you should know this:

The accordion I have is called a Bayan. It's a Russian style button accordion which is different from what most people think of as a button accordion. Most button accordions, like Concertinas, are diatonic. That means they make a different sound when you pull the bellows apart than they do when you press the same buttons but push the accordion bellows together.

The Bayan is more like the piano accordion - it makes the same sound in and out - but actually has more notes you can play because there's more buttons than a piano keyboard has keys.

anyway, what matters about that is that these kinds of accordions are hard to find, and its hard to find teachers for that reason. The reason I was going all the way to the Richmond for lessons was because Grigory was the only guy I could find who was teaching Bayan. So what I'm trying to say is, you might have a hard time finding a teacher if you use this accordion.

So ya, if you want it, it's totally yours and awaits you here in Oakland.

i totally want it. i'll figure out finding an instructor - and honestly - i also like experimenting on my own.
