Software Engineer Location: San Francisco

Shockwave.com is one of the leading destinations for casual games and fun on the
internet. We are seeking a Software Engineer to add to our growing engineering
team. This is a full-time position located in San Francisco's Financial
District. Shockwave is a wholly owned subsidiary of Viacom Inc. and is a
division of MTV Networks.

The candidate will be working within a fast-paced Engineering team to develop and
maintain web-app software, workflow and infrastructure. As part of the position,
candidate will gain experience with the full life-cycle of projects, including
interacting with project managers on requirements design, technical design,
task estimation, implementation and automated testing.

Requirements:

* Solid computer science background
* 2 or more years of work on production server code as part of a team of 3 or more
* Highly responsible with excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Be able to work efficiently and independently yet play well with others
* Experience developing websites and/or client-server applications using
Java, Javascript, DHTML and CSS
* Knowledge of object-oriented methodologies

Nice-to-haves:

* Experience with JSP containers such as Tomcat or Resin
* Experience with SQL, JDBC and relational database architecture
* Familiarity with J2EE MVC Frameworks (Spring), JSP, Taglibs
* Knowledge of design patterns and refactoring
* Experience with scripting languages like Python, Perl
* Ability to administer your own machine
