JAZZ & WHISKEY
She was always calmed
by jazz and whiskey
it slowed her down
in a good
earthy
smell of dirty moonshine nights
stars seen out a back seat window
at one am
sort of way
She would sway to it
whiskey with a rhythm
like church
or Dean Martin
while her wind bitten cheeks
warmed
with the burn
She looked over
held her liquor
with relish
her pen like a cigarette
finding the smoker in me
as she asked
for a light.
