IMO, I think there's more fire to this than smoke, I'm afraid.

I got a little insight about it last night at a gathering of Earthquakes soccer fans. This same spot was a prime target for a soccer stadium. Before I knew about this story, one of the people involved in getting a soccer stadium built told me that suddenly this spot was no longer prime. He wasn't allowed to give me details.

I think I'm going to cry if this really happens. Especially after they JUST built the 3rd street light rail and have shuttles from Caltrain for easier access to Candlestick. This is just not cool. The A's are supposedly moving too. These are pretty much the only two stable things in my entire life growing up. Everything else has already been torn down and paved over or had a Walgreens or Barnes and Noble plopped on top of its grave.
