Queer Open Mic featuring: Elizabeth Latty
Queer Open Mic comes round again to welcome in some super autumn spookiness on Friday the 13th. While your two hosts Cindy Emch and Sherilyn Connelly master the mechanics of the open mic list to ensure that the maestrae of the performance scene get their five minutes or less of fame, featured performer Elizabeth Latty will be delivering her unique blend of kick-assery and fierce feminist wordsmithing to ensure a truly unforgettable night. (Cindy is also very excited to have another Michigan native to share the stage with! Whee!!!)
The Queer Open Mic is a twice monthly literary event which embraces diversity in all performers along the lines of gender, class and cultural background. The QOM also works to give back to the LGBT community having operated as a beneficiary for the queer feminist art space Femina Potens and currently runs as a benefit for the non-profit feminist magazine Bitch.
Elizabeth Latty is the author of numerous works of fiction, countable works of creative non-fiction and a couple of poems. Her writing can be found in The F-Word Zine, The Wayne Literary Review, Radical Detroit: A Journal of Cultural and Political Resistance, citenonsite.com, and the forthcoming anthology from Seal Press, We Don’t Need Another Wave: Dispatches From the Next Generation of Feminists. She lives and loves in San Francisco but Detroit will always be home.
