so- i went. i sat. i heard. i enjoyed. and. i did not read. they forgot. and ran out of time.

great.

at least some folks whose opinion i respect had made a point of waiting the whole night out to hear me read.
they were disappointed. i totally understood. so was i.


i then had many manhattans
started to be told about how and what really matters
got interrupted
felt like i was on the verge of a knowing that i really needed
left the bar
hailed two cabs
flyered with a friend in that rowdy stupid drunk way
got some guys to sing me twenties songs instead of the irish folk songs they were working out
we got to the next bar
i had another manhanttan
parted ways with friend
yelled at not one but TWO guys who tried to grab my ass
both of whom looked SHOCKED that i yelled at them
waited too long for the bus
took a cab home.
wanted to beat  up many people.

I'm so sorry that what sounds like sloppy organizing and stage managing led to you not being able to read.

However, later today you will be surrounded by many people who love you very much -- some of whom probably wouldn't mind being beaten up by you. :)

we never met but I know your poetry a bit. i was disappointed that you didn't read. hearing that from a stranger sometimes has a different twist (....and please don't feel threatened by this 'cause anonymous-no stalking, just genuine interest in poetry)

thanks - i am totally curious about how you came to my poetry and such. glad to hear that you're a fan. i was looking forward to reading - talking about how cruisy or date-y open mics can be and i had brought two infidelity poems to read in honor of that. oh well - there's always next time right?

that really sucked. I was waiting. They were so incredibly disorganized last night. I wonder if that is why the event is so much smaller than it used to be?

well i think the programs not being out yet had a lot to do with it. sigh. it's a good festival it's just a shame how it worked out.
