i just got this email, and am so offended. it just feels so insensitive, so inappropriate. there is a disaster of epic proportions and they want to throw a fucking party... whatever.

TONIGHT! SAN FRANCISCO LESBIAN GAY BISEXUAL TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY CENTER CELEBRATES CALIFORNIA SENATE VICTORY



(SAN FRANCISCO - September 1, 2005) The following is a statement from Thom Lynch, Executive Director of the San Francisco LGBT Community Center:

Join us tonight, when the LGBT Community Center hosts a celebration of today's historic victory in the California Senate approving same-sex marriage.

Today's victory marks an amazing historical achievement -- by far the most significant action ever taken by an American legislative body in support of LGBT civil marriage rights.

Ours is a civil rights movement on the march. There are battles we will win and battles we will lose, but the ultimate victory is assured. The flow of this movement is ever forward and we will not rest until all of our LGBT community have the same civil rights as any other American.

We salute Equality California for their great work on this bill, written by former Center board member, Assembly Member Mark Leno. Representatives of Assembly Member Mark Leno and of Senator Carole Migden will be attending. All San Franciscans are welcome to join us.
