road trip day two
Apr. 25th, 2008 09:36 amwe got all the way up to portland yesterday. rolled out of SF by 10am (that's freeway hitting time) and into portland around 9:30 - not bad. we stopped for a proper lunch and the rest was just straight on through with stops for gas and bladder emptying. it's fucking weird to not be the main driver. man i get fidgety. what do i do? what do i do? fidget fidget fuss fuss. apparently i take many cell phone pics. this one was fun.

i m a little worried about getting all the way from seattle to sf on sunday - esp since i have a [data embargo] at 8am on monday that ican't miss. but i am sure we'll figure it out.
once we got into portland we met up with some friends of friends and had a grand old time. it's apparently shocking to think of dave lombardo as primarily the drummer of fantomas. heh. a zillion years with slayer - but he really only (to me) started pushing his talent once he was in a jazz combo. then again - i see jazz in everything. every song has the history of its influences in it. it just makes it better. whee.
so we got food - went to a bar modelled after the one in blue velvet, then to a bar with logs for walls, and then we helped one of the portland friends pop her strip club cherry. it was a nice enough strip club. i kinda just sat back and talked music with folks. was good.
now i really should get in the shower so that we can get to seattle early enough to rest up and get sane before the show.
i miss you sf.
