maybe if they added a fuel efficient engine and some wheels... no.. not even then... maybe you could commission a welder/metal artist type to make you something like this but for way less moolah?

That much and the mattress looks crooked & not all that!

I've seen similar beds wood & iron worked before as four poster tree beds for much less.Still expensive, mind you, but for much less.
You might be able to take such a photo around & see how much some students would be willing to make something similar for....

ooo... take this picture to The Crucible and say to the welding and woodworking instructors "I bet your students could never make THIS"

Or it might be worth what she is asking.

It is quite beautiful through my eyes. Certainly, there are some hideous things that pass for art (functional or not) that sell for much, much more.

I'm sure it took her a long time to design and make this bed and the materials aren't cheap either.
I know it sucks when I can't afford stuff I want, but one can always visit it at open studios (probably this month with the holidays) and treat it like visiting a museum.

You could totally find some student at the Crucible.. dammit. I now see that someone named Justin already gave you this tidbit of advice. In that case I say you should go to the Crucible and make it yourself! ;)

I love it, and I can just see having to pry my cat out of that nest.

That is so awesome. I'm reminded of a shower-head thingie that was supposed to fall like rainwater... I can't find the blasted thing now, of course, but it was something you installed in your ceiling, almost as large as a tile.

What on earth did they make it from?! Four trees and a bird's nest surely wouldn't cost thirteen grand!

Oh, and does that cost include the mattress?
