This meme is interesting... though i predicted a lot of what came up for mine

I am going to do two of these - one optimistic, one not so much

Three Events:

1847 - Stephen Foster's most well-known song, Oh! Susanna, is first performed at a saloon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
1918 - Baseball: The Boston Red Sox won the World Series; they would not do so again until October 27, 2004 after 86 years.
1999 - Tennis: Serena Williams, 2 weeks short of her 18th birthday, wins her first Grand Slam tournament when she became US Open champion, becoming the first African American woman to win a Grand Slam tournament since Althea Gibson in 1958.

1921 - Motion picture star Fatty Arbuckle is arrested for rape.
1992 - Hurricane Iniki, one of the most damaging hurricane in United States history during its time, devastates the State of Hawai'i, especially the islands of Kaua'i and Oahu.
2001 - The September 11 attacks destroy the World Trade Center in New York City, part of The Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and crash a passenger airliner in Pennsylvania. In total almost 3,000 are killed.

I find it interesting that you and the Mister both have birthdays that many people associate with something else these days. Was it a bonding experience? Or just a random annoyance?

The only thing I know about my birthday is that I share it with Garfield the cat.

well when we were first together, it was interesting because my mom and i share a bday, so i totally understood the whole "it's about something else" feeling. plus my previous partners bday was on 12/22, close enough to Xmas that the celebrations and presents would get combined. once i had that one bday that started with "what the hell movie is that on? HOLY SHIT not a movie!!!" it's a different kind of thing. mostly because though our bdays are both co-opted hers is for a happy thing and mine... not so much. both situations have issues with them, just different sort of issues.
