little gifts - maybe not so little

i feel very blessed today
last night i had a wonderful time drinking and talking
met a couple of new people that were faboo and heartbreakingly sweet and open
especially with the just having met at a bar factor
and then a reading
good stuff, heart poking stuff
made my pen move, made me feel all good and squishy
then a ride home from a not so new now new friend
who things are just clicking like crazy with
two wonderful people in one night who actually get me to talk about my stuff
in a way that feels good and safe
and friendships and conversations are such gifts

but at the end
i was given a new piece they had written, which I had missed the reading of
so i got the folded scrunched up version
from the back pocket
and when I read it over coffee this morning
i was blown away

this is the second time in four months
that i writer i totally admire
gives me a draft, folded paper version of their work
can i tell you how absolutely touched and trusted and precious that makes me feel?

it's just so important. to be handed someones art. before it's safe in a book, when its raw and sweaty and covered in performance

so yup i am feeling blessed

i am so not able to focus on work with my mind swimming with art now

this is why i usually don't read art before work
my mind won't leave it alone

hehehehe,
i can't focus very well either, mostly because i'm still soaking in a performance from last night that was so good, i can barely think of anything else.
