March 10th is right around the corner and that means another QUEER OPEN MIC at the Three Dollar Bill Café. For this extra special show we have not only, San Francisco’s own king of the road: Kelly Lee Beardsley with her amazing stories of cross country journeys and being a SF bus driver, but also a visiting poet from Canada, lisa b who has won awards and inspired people in multiple nations.
Hosted by Cindy M. Emch solo this week – it’s sure to be a grand old time at the Three Dollar Bill Café where the beer and wine are poured generously in a warm community atmosphere.
Please list the event in your calendar sections. Especially with a touring performer it’s important for us to get a full house, after all, even poets need gas money.
When: March 10th, 8pm
Where: $3 Bill Café, 1800 Market St
How much? $1 - $5 Sliding Scale
Kelly Beardsley has been telling stories at venues around San Francisco for the past 4 years. She is a regular story teller at Porchlight. her stories have been heard on NPR's This American Life, The California Report,Storycorps,KPFA,KQED TVs Spark.

lisa b is an award-winning political spoken word poet, acupuncturist and fire
tower lookout based in Victoria, BC. since 2001, she has shared her intimate,
direct, and frequently very funny spoken word poetry across canada. she has 4
self-published chapbooks: star tissue (2002) dogs and small children (2003)
hope’s bicycle (2004) and how thirsty bird sang down the sky (2005). she
recorded her debut spoken word cd, salvaged music, in late 2004, working with
local victoria talent to create a fusion of spoken word and music with diverse
instrumentation.
in early 2005 she became the first spoken word poet to tour all the way across
canada, in her coast-to-coast salvaged music tour. she visited big cities and small
towns and remote communities, forming connections with elderly ladies in rural
saskatchewan and too-cool-to-crack-a-smile urban queers in toronto. she has
shared the stage with Alix Olson, Ivan E. Coyote, Tara Hardy, Billeh Nickerson,
Zoe Whittall, Oni the Haitian Sensation, and many phenomenally talented high
school students at various open mics.
she is currently hard at work on a west coast tour for february-march 2006 to
spread her word from BC to California.
The Canada Council for the Arts has cautioned her about being overly ambitious.
