The Hobo Love Tour is an accordion poetry tour adventure.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and ghouls, tramps and tricksters and traingels – step right up and get ready to be amazed by Waltzing Matilda the One Beer Prophet (formerly known as J. Wilber and Reverend Jess Duggan) and Cindy Emch (aka Emchy) of Vagabondage and Rhubarb Whiskey as they embark on the Hobo Love Tour!

That's right, folks – these two talented tattooed ladies are following the harvest moon during the month of September, starting out in Beer City and then following the curve of the big river down to St. Louis, and New Orleans.  Then, they'll be cutting back east to descend upon Louisville, Kentucky and, of course, the City of Big Shoulders.  They'll be spilling drinks and breaking hearts through the rust belt and the south.  Whatever you do, don't miss this daring duo!  It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you'll never forget!

Jess Wilber Bio

Waltzing Matilda hails from deep in the heart of the Rust Belt, a melancholy yet ruckus-raising clowngirl if ever there was one!  See! her do pseudo-stripteases to the sounds of Dixieland jazz!  Hear! her squeeze and strum her twisted take on Americana!  Listen! to her cut up jackpots, yarns spun about her traveling adventures!  Watch! as she makes you laugh and cry with her silly hobo-clown antics!

Hear her amaze you and see her wares on the lovely websites http://sadandbeautifulworld.net and http://www.myspace.com/onebeerprophet.

Cindy Emch aka Emchy Bio

Emchy comes from the lonesome, fog-drenched port of San Francisco, an accordion-playing beauty beyond compare!  Hear her play songs of hard-drinkin' and hell-raisin' on her accordion!  Listen to her share with you poetry that'll set fire to your soul!  Watch her closely, for she has surprises in store!

She is also the nefarious accordion component in the bands Vagabondage and Rhubarb Whiskey. Her adventures with Vagabondage are legendary including performances at the Hubba Hubba Revue (2008 Best of the Bay Variety Show), and other sordid venues in California.  You can hear her songs on the myspace pages of
Vagabondage & Rhubarb Whiskey.

beauty in the tragic.
this is something that catches my eye daily. there is always some undercurrent in things that are truly beautiful that would seemingly pull them away from their core and yet somehow enhances. the most tragic things often reveal beautiful, intimate and intense things. objects, people or occasions of great beauty are often undercut by a sadness that magnifies the precious and the delicate. there is something in that. something that the people who focus so much on perfection miss. it's the imperfections that create the things that make life the most perfect

day dreaming.
i can't much say day dreaming without thinking of myself on a lawn on a lake in the midwest with a breeze in my hair, grass in my toes and the smell of green lake water in my nose. the reflections in those waters make dreams happen.

down by law.
this film by jim jarmusch helped change how i saw the world and what good could come of a good pair of shoes

exploring musical landscapes.
i love so much music. zorn in particular in conjunction with mingus and coltrane helped train my ear to look for the world the music was creating. the trains and the mountains and the thunderstorms. music as a force of nature. to be explored and adventured like a road trip and the most fantastic voyage. every song can take you somewhere. it's up to our own hearts how free we make ourselves for those travels.

flappers.
oh flappers. oh you 1920s girls busting out of victorian corsets drinking the moonshine and cutting your hair. walking headfirst and headstrong into political movements and offices where suddenly the jobs you could get were given less respect. i love the flapper for her freedom, her dancing, her revelry and her passion. sometimes the zeitgeist to just have some fun is the thing a woman needs. there are other more complicated socio economic pieces to all of this. but when i think flapper i like to think of this body ownership, this empowerment, this attempt at social freedoms.

michigan.
my land of ghosts where they all light campfires and jump over fireworks. i wish it could be that easy again but then again - its never been that hard.

theda bara
