something is wrong with lucky. we think she either ate a funky thing or got a bruise that is making her sore and achey from some rowdiness in the car.

warning signs to get vet bound are not eating, drinking, not going to the bathroom

so far she is still eating, wagging her tail, drinking water, enjoying the park and doing all of her business.

that said she is also lethargic, and having a hard time with stairs and jumping up on the couch / bed.

so we're worried as all hell, keeping a close eye on her and watching for the warning signs. we're rubbed her down looking for a negative reaction or hurty spots and found none - though her tough dog status would likely keep her from reacting unless there was an open wound.

we're also giving her chicken and rice to eat starting with dinner today since if she did eat something 'wrong' that will help it pass faster and be easier on her system.

our pet guy recently lost a dog that ate the wrong thing, got a blockage and died when it's internal piping hemorraged and its bowels were essentially leaking into its body. this of course is the nightmare haunting us while she is not feeling well. but we know the warning signs for blockage and are on the same page for what we do immediately if x, y or z happens.

worried. worried. worried.

i've got my dog on boiled chicken and rice, too (inexplicable rash).

how old is she? could be the start of joint problems; some dog breeds are more susceptible than others.

sending you happy puppeh thoughts...

she's about five - but this was like a 180 turnaround from hyper and running up and down the nutso hills of stern grove to moving like an arthritic old lady. which is why we're thinking she overdid it, or slipped on the hill in the rain and got bruised or ran through some nettles that left her sore... she's been known to get sore from overextending in the park but never where she couldn't get on the couch. that said she was more spry in our walk around this morning than she was yesterday in the park... which also lends to the sore and achey hypothesis.

Aw, feel better Lucky girl.

I'm sending good doggie prayers and love her way. Tell her Aunt Fran said: Good Girl Lucky! Who's a good girl? You are! and then give her a smooch from me.

xoxo

Thinking happy doggy thoughts for Lucky! I hope it's just a doggy cold or something similarly transient.

Ack! I'm sorry, I hope she's feeling better soon! I'm no expert, but it sounds like a temporary injury to me.

Hm... I'm thinking about Neil Gaiman's dog Cabal who strained a ligament very badly but hid it quite well until it was really quite a mess... I hope Lucky gets to feeling better!
