Editor Job Description

Jaman.com has an opportunity available for an Associate Editor with a minimum of 4-5 years of solid online journalism or online public relations/marketing experience. Working within our Editorial Dept. and reporting to the managing editor, you will be responsible for making sure Jaman.com builds our content library and a significant online presence via Web 2.0 media sites, the blogosphere and message boards.

Responsibilities include overall editorial project planning, meta data for new movies, creating editorial calendars, developing content, writing and editing website copy,  managing the copyedit processes, blogs, and social media outreach.

Besides being an excellent writer, you will need to know exactly how viral marketing and grassroots (even guerrilla) marketing/pr work. You should instantly know the pros and cons between Twitter, MySpace, etc.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Work within the marketing team to execute production of new movie upload process
•    Research, write and enter complete metadata for films onsite with an eye for film trivia and interest points that will engage users while delivering assigned projects on schedule while optimized for SEO
•    Generate copy for weekly newsletters describing offerings in concise but exciting detail 
•    Execute other writing / tagging assignments given by managing editor such as occasional reporting, copywriting, blog entries, forum posts.
•    Developing and cultivating leads, building a solid pipeline of compelling bloggers, securing links from other sites/blogs. Participate on other forums to generate interest and reach out to other communities online about film related topics 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

•    B.A. Degree, along with editing and writing skills, the ability to develop creative and effective ideas and concepts, and a proficiency with A.P. Style, MS Word & Excel are required
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Strong eye for detail; Able to juggle multiple tasks, sift through priorities, and work within tight schedules
•    Experience with entertainment, SEO, online community or social networking sites
