emchy: (accordion 2008)

the mark growden benefit was amazing. well with the exception of the philosophy major from michigan who was cool and who even got it when i gave him shit for being pretentious but still pulled me into a film discussion when all i wanted was the music. and seriously the music - omg.

by far. this was one of the best shows i have been to in my life. the fact that it was far below sold out was a travesty to art.mark - the person the benefit was for - started the show with an uber short set on the banjo. there was a bruce springsteen cover, an original and another cover. it was grand. then there were bands. some amazing and some meh but mostly my boots were shaking. and then at the end mark and his accordion made an appearance. i almost cried many times. no really. the music. the passion in it. the complexity of the bass chords and the button harmonies  / melodies. oh my fucking god. over and over. oh my fucking god.

he's playing again on may 9th.

i feel like my life got changed. again.

he really is who i credit with inspiring me to pick up a squeezebox. and in that i have been given so much joy.

oh and sidetrack - lots of whiskey - no smoking. woot. almost at 3 weeks clean.
