Maybe I'm a bit behind the times here, but has all of this rating system come about BECAUSE of YouTube or has YouTube been a part of the trend?

I tried to view an old Ren and Stimpy clip that was marked "mature" on YouTube, and it made me sign up and log in to YouTube so I could watch or share the video. Did you know about that? I think it's a big step backwards. If your kids are watching things that are inappropriate on the internet, then 1: You should be responsible and talk with them and 2: Most kids know how to make an account and still view mature content. The system is essentially a failure waiting to happen. I think.
