Jul. 29th, 2007 11:07 amwatched half of robin and the seven hoods last night as the anedote to missing grindhouse (wtf it taking 85 mins to get from greenbrae to sf?) and i must say singing gangsters do it for me everytime. thing i repeatedly love about dean martin - he seems / sounds like the goofy charming guy but when push comes to shove he has the under gritty that makes you know he can shove back... hard. frank sinatra always felt more like a playactor for me in the tough guy regard. he could walk the walk but when it came down to it - he relied on other people for the muscle. this is all in the context of rat pack films that i am talking. other film choices for both actors as well as public personae are a different issue with different observations and conventions. anyway - i geeked out and loved it.
i think the last time i enjoyed it so much was when the big ex and i went and saw it at the parkside. we had been split for 2-3 months and it was the first time we really relaxed and enjoyed each others company again. and we got completely drunk off of cider and were laughing and yelling at the screen by the end. one of the best memories that i have of him actually from the whole time that i have known him.
today it's foggy and cold again in the parkside. we're en route to bekeley to see our good pal officer nene who we haven't seen in a super long time. taking bfast fixings over and just gonna chill at her house all day. night might bring rataouille or the die hard movie. trying to break the cycle of not seeing movies that we both want to see in the theater in the actual theater.
listening to patsy cline and drinking coffee on a sunday morning while getting ready to run out.
mmmmm what gets better than that?
