I had no idea it was going to be so tough selling a vagina! My gawd, I'm a woman, a lesbian, now older and I gotta take "shit" about the image of the "vagina" not being "fine art?" I found this one in nature and I think it's stunning? And I'm going to take it all the way to the "top." If you know anyone who writes, museum curator, collectors, friend at Art & Auction - I'd be grateful - don't be shy - I'd appreciate knowing! :-)
I do know all "vagina" art was almost completely destroyed by the Christians in the 17th century. In the Middle ages it was considered sacred and "public art." Extraordinary history one can read in the extraordinary book "The Story of the V: Opening Pandora's Box! An absolutely must read. BUT NOW, in 2007 everybody (I've truly not really met an exception) reacts to it - like it's pornography!!! That's right, we've internalized it! And it's a friggin political issue! And a serious one, at that! I have NO DOUBT if we respected it as "fine art" instead of pornography, the dialogue alone would elevate the status and seriously reduce violence against women! For millenniums and across cultures women have exposed their vagina's in quite powerful "evil-averting" fertility enhancing" ana.suromai rituals. It sure seems to me we could use that kind of an iconic symbol about now in history! I'd loved to see it hung at the entrance of the WHITE HOUSE!
Call me a dreamer! Cool site! Thanks!
