intentions
Oct. 28th, 2006 07:49 pmi have been dwelling on intentions a lot lately. living with or without intention and how that can impact quality of life. what is just fate / shit happens sort of stuff and what is a direct result of passive walking through life and not making choices. most saturday mornings at my house go like this:
wake up around 9:30
talk. make coffee. talk. feel lazy. lay around. talk. drink coffee.
make breakfast by about 11:45. finish putting away dishes from food by 1pm. dress / clean up and leave the house to start the day around 2:30. run to target / rainbow / whole foods in some sort of order spend a lot of time on the boring freeway get home around 8pm tired cranky and hungry. watch a movie and crash.
now especially as we're losing light to late autumn / winter this stops working for me. sure it feels mellow and relaxed - but i also relax when i feel like i am getting shit done. today i tried something different.
woke up around 9:45
woke up rooster and said "let's throw on clothes and take the dog to the ocean"
by 10:45 she was showered, i was dressed, critters were fed and we were on our way out the door. got coffee at sea biscuit and went to the ocean. ocean ocean ocean. woke up to the ocean WOW. on the way home stopped by the donut shop and the pet store. home by noon, dog walked, errand run, and good mood pervasive. made bfast, did dishes and on the way to errands by 1pm. took the ocean road to target and stopped to walk around lake merced on the way. PRETTY and LAKE SMELLS YAY! target - we had a list, we stuck to it, we left. errand in the castro - halfway worked out - love the castro YAY. now we're tired - hey make a quick stop at the closer semi-organic store for some essentials - YAY. home by 7pm. good mood still around. dinner happens soon. then a bath. then a 30th bday party and a halloween party. woot.
see the difference there? first option is all about necessity and not smelling the lake and ocean and roses. second is all about choosing to make time to do it a little different. and the errands weren't run in exactly the same way... but it was good.
by the way i felt totally busted. while buying the groceries (including cheese) i got a call from the cheese mafia - there is a psychic current there - they somehow knew i was buying "other cheese." for the record - it was more expensive and less tasty. I promise to only do it in emergencies.
