Dear Friends:
Earlier this week someone dumped 178 healthy, friendly pet rats at
ACC. The woman who did this claims she just "found them" in
her yard, but she is being investigated for animal cruelty. In the meantime,
ACC desperately needs foster homes for the cute little critters.
They make wonderful pets, and many landlords who don't allow dogs or
cats do allow smaller animals. If no foster homes or adopters are found soon -- perhaps by the end of this weekend -- they will have to be killed. If you or someone you know can care for one or more rats until a permanent adopter can be found you will have the undying gratitude of ACC, their small animal volunteers and me. At least spread the
word.
Please call Melissa Flower, who is helping to coordinate this
rescue effort: (650) 756-7471; or call the front desk at ACC: (415) 554-6364, ext. 3 -- as soon as possible!
Thank you,
Bill Hamilton
