MEDIA ENGINEER (full-time contract, June-August 2006)

Atom Entertainment is seeking a talented Media Engineer for media production work that will help power a major redesign of the award-winning AtomFilms site (www.atomfilms.com). This is an opportunity to work with entertainment content created by top independent producers, and deliver it to an audience of 5 million monthly users.

We are looking for someone with a combination of strong media production skills and proven expertise with media on the web. Our ideal candidate will also have strong organizational skills and will strive to remain detail-oriented with complex projects. This full-time contract position will be based in Atom’s downtown San Francisco offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Digital Media Production

· Video capture & encoding

· Image manipulation

· Creation of HTML and XML templates

· FTP’ing content to partners

· QA of encoded / digital media.

· Communicate with outside partners in the event of media problems.

· Assist on other media production tasks as needed.

Videotape, CD-R, DVD-R Media Production

· Perform videotape duplication and compilations.

· Burn compilations of media content onto CD-R / DVD-R.

· Assist managing the videotape library and archived digital media assets.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum 2+ years professional Web production experience. Agency and/or media production experience is a plus.

· Strong HTML and XML skills with a clear understanding of media on the web and FTP.

· Proficient with media encoding tools including Discreet* Cleaner, Windows Media, QuickTime Pro, Real Producer or other streaming media production tools.

· Knowledge of media production tools including non-linear editing, Flash, Fireworks and Photoshop. Proficiency with DVD authoring a plus.

· Must be proficient with PC and Mac platforms and CD-R/DVD-R burning.

· Knowledge of broadcast tape production and digital/analog audio standards a plus.

· Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work under pressure and tight deadlines.

· Strong communication and organizational skills.

· Appreciation of films and/or games is a plus.

· BA/BS or equivalent work experience.
