> devoted to media criticism, feminist activism, and witty pop-culture
> analysis. Our current circulation is 48,000 (including 11,000
> subscribers) and we’re distributed across North America.

> We’re looking for a smart, resourceful, enthusiastic person to take
> over our ad sales department. The job requires a commitment of roughly
> 10-15 hours a week, many of which will be done outside the Bitch
> office. Please note up front: The salary for this position is
> commission only – 20% on ads sold.

> Duties include:
> * Developing, selling, and maintaining advertising accounts
> * Maintaining and updating database of advertisers
> * Obtaining insertion orders and contracts from advertisers;
> facilitating process of obtaining artwork
> * Researching advertising and circulation information for other
> magazines in our category
> * Coming to office for monthly staff meetings and as needed to
> strategize about long-term planning, promotional strategies, ad rates,
> and competitive analyses

> We’re looking for someone with:
> * Serious enthusiasm for selling ads and ideally sales experience
> * Strong verbal and written communication skills (including a good
> phone manner)
> * Excellent organizational and prioritizing abilities
> * Computer competency (Microsoft Word and Excel, Filemaker Pro)
> * The ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a
> deadline-driven environment
> * Also helpful is an interest in pop culture, the media, and feminism.
> A sense of humor is also highly prized.

> * Pay is 20% commission on sold ads. We’re unable to offer benefits at
