Holiday Wishlist:

these are always some of my favorite posts of the year. if you wanna dig into one of the things that needs an address hit me up at emchypoet@gmail.com

Step One
- Make a post (public, locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your journal/ blog. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
- Surf around your reading list/friendslist (or network, or friends' friends, or just random journals, or holiday_wishes) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't se--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. Mix CDs. Every year I get mix cd's from folks and every time my brain expands in new and interesting omg I love music ways. From country to opera to olde tymey to blues to jazz to barrelhouse piano ragtime insanity to straight up Luciana dance music I love finding out about music that is new to me. I also TRY to do a mix for folks myself around this time of year. So it's likely to turn out like a trade ;)

2. Used  / burned copies of Twin Peaks, Millenium, Carnivale, Mad Men (from Season 1 on) or Tipping the Velvet on DVD. Some old favorites, some I've been meaning to see. As a gift or as a loan. It would be amazing.

3. Make / support art. Go out to local shows at the museum, gallery or bar near you. Tell the musician, painter, writer, sculptor that you liked it. Please. Making art is hard in our culture and there isn't a whole lot of support. Even people that seem to enjoy a band run away in shyness post show and you never really know if people liked it. Go out and speak up. 99% of artists like to know you liked the vulnerable squishy parts of their hearts they just left on the floor.

4. I'd like people to give a useful gift to a homeless person in their community. It's really hard out there, even somewhere like the Bay Area where the weather isn't such a danger.

5. Your art. Do you record music? Write books? Take photos? I love seeing what my friends make and enjoying their art. LOVE IT.

6. I always enjoy jewelry. Necklaces / bracelets that are quirky, metal and old fashioned in some strange way are the best. If you handmade it? Even better!

7. Job Leads? I've been on the unemployment and out of the tech marketing game since about March of last year, but really? since July of 2009. I'm in a place where a regular dayjob would be a good thing again. Editorial, copywriting, content management, curation of online short form entertainment, something else - maybe in the music industry around booking acts or filtering through for the next big thing? Heck I even have a number of years experience as a radio DJ. Throw it my way please.

8. Show leads? In the Bay Area and beyond. The thing I enjoy most in the world right now is performing so more chances to do that, and more ways to do it so that the bands get paid - these would be good good things.

9. Well - I do have an amazon wish list is that cheating?

10. I always love booze as a gifty. Rye whiskeys, bourbons and big red wines are my favorites. Quirky strange stuff is fun too.
