LJ Interests meme results

  1. billy holiday:
beautiful haunting voice that is so strong and so vulnerable, reminds me how hearts break and heal everyday
  2. detroit motor city:
my mom grew up in the city proper. i grew up 90mins away and went there for culture, museums and to see urban living and later, realize the devastation of urban blight. i love detroit. it is the factory architecture skin that holds my forest and farmland blood
  3. flappers:
flappers in the twenties are really about as sexy as you can get. one of the many waves of feminist emancipation combined with some honest to goodness fun. seems like it never sticks around for long, but eventually comes back in some new form. flappers = riot grrrls = meow
  4. hole:
i like this band a lot
  5. lost highway:
ever got lost in a riddle that wasn't solveable and that was what made it perfect? i like what this movie does to my brain. it's like improvisational jazz translated into cinematic glory
  6. missy elliot:
i like this artist a lot. she is effing RAD!
  7. on the town:
if gene kelly wasn't enough to make me smile like a huge dork, then adding frank sinatra to the mix makes it a sure fire bet. this is my best drug to beat depression, for at least 90mins or so.
  8. profane vs sacred:
when it's really good, they are the same thing
  9. smashing the state:
    because it needs it
  10. ty cobb:
one of the most famous detroit tigers ever, he wasn't the most talented but made himself so by sheer force of will. also, he was one of the most unapologetic assholes ever. to quote wally pleasant "you dont have to be good to be great" I am fascinated by someone so completely themselves, regardless of consequences.
