much like the patriotism born out of howls of paina few year ago
i feel so connected and disconnected. emotional and powerless. wanting to help while completely helpess.

and

it. keeps. getting. worse.

i am so angry. last night on the news a reporter lost it at a FEMA spokesperson. it took until yesterday for them to surface. it took until yesterday for bush to say even one completely worthless word. it is so horrible to have this pathetic leadership during not one, but two of the worst crisis our country has seen. and i only wish we had someone who could actually help and lead to try and round things up and help those thousands of poor people who couldn't get out and are in such desperate conditions...

can you impeach a president for diverting so many resources from domestic issues that when something does go wrong, there isn't enough there to help, and then is so incompetent that more people die because he bungles the situation more and more every moment?

i just got this email, and am so offended. it just feels so insensitive, so inappropriate. there is a disaster of epic proportions and they want to throw a fucking party... whatever.

TONIGHT! SAN FRANCISCO LESBIAN GAY BISEXUAL TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY CENTER CELEBRATES CALIFORNIA SENATE VICTORY

(SAN FRANCISCO - September 1, 2005) The following is a statement from Thom Lynch, Executive Director of the San Francisco LGBT Community Center:

Join us tonight, when the LGBT Community Center hosts a celebration of today's historic victory in the California Senate approving same-sex marriage.

Today's victory marks an amazing historical achievement -- by far the most significant action ever taken by an American legislative body in support of LGBT civil marriage rights.

Ours is a civil rights movement on the march. There are battles we will win and battles we will lose, but the ultimate victory is assured. The flow of this movement is ever forward and we will not rest until all of our LGBT community have the same civil rights as any other American.

We salute Equality California for their great work on this bill, written by former Center board member, Assembly Member Mark Leno. Representatives of Assembly Member Mark Leno and of Senator Carole Migden will be attending. All San Franciscans are welcome to join us.

What: Victory Party

Where: San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Community Center
1800 Market Street, 4th Floor Andrew Spencer Ceremonial Room

When: Tonight, September 1, 2005 at 6:00 p.m.
