so the saga of the evil neighbor continues

for those of you just tuning in, i live in the attic apt of an old victorian. there is also the main house where the landlady (Rose) lives with her extended philipino family and their two dogs, and a basement apt, which is where the evil pot head, girlfriend beating, alcholic, dog abusing, yelling at all the tenants neighbor mark lives.

so a week ago, when Rose went to ask all of us to watch our electricity use, Mark called her a motherfucker, a sign of things to come.

so last night, at one am, mark rang rose's doorbell and said to her "ok I'm home, the dogs can start barking now" and then proceeded to yell and yell and yell at her. to the point where it sounded like it was going to get violent. she told him over and over that if he didn't go back home she was going to call the cops. it sounded bad, so we called the cops. and then rose called the cops. so three cars and six cops showed up right away. he got calmer when the cops came but was still acting crazy. the cops asked him what he was on (he was drunk), they took him to his apt. it was just a wreck.

so the cops settled everything down, left, and then he came back up to rose's house. yelled about he won since the cops left. then went back to his apt and started screaming about 'fuck rose fuck you fuck the dogs' escalating again. so we called the cops again. they came back and calmed him down.

some choice phrases from last night that he yelled "fuck you you whore worshipper" "you're illegal rose, fuck you you're illegal" "you fucked with the wrong person rose, you wait, you see what happens" et cetera et cetera

developments from this morning, there is evidence that he is going to antagonize the dogs to bark more, probably to record them and make his own noise complaint. rose is calling housing authority, and a lawyer to start eviction proceedings. the dogs are all being kept in the house and not in the yard unless accompanied by a human. he has crossed the line to the point that it is likely he may try to poison them. i found broken glass in the yard, somewhat strategically placed to hurt the dogs. rose is scared and visibly triggered, not in her body at all. by the way, does anyone have a baseball bat i can borrow for a month or so?

so that was last night from 1am - 3:30am. it is scary, but hopefully this means he will finally be out of the house. i want to have a party / open house / bbq when he is gone. you are all invited.

Hey Y'all

So I have an earnest ask... today was my planned day to do PR for the open mic on Friday. and I am a bit scattered and weird in the head from the activities of last night. so if anyone is willing, please help me spread the word about the open mic on Friday. I am still going to send around, but I am just... not in my usual headspace. My friend and amazing writer Meliza Banales is the featured perfomer. The official details are below. Thanks for your help.

QUEER OPEN MIC

Featuring Meliza Bañales
sign up at 7:30, performances at 8pm. Subvert the superstitions and reclaim the magic of Friday the 13th at the Queer Open Mic. Anything could happen...

Plus you get to hear Meliza Bañales, who has been called, "The girl with the sense of humor of a jackknife." She originally hails from Los Angeles and is the youngest of four kids from working-poor parents. The first Latina to ever win a Bay Area slam championship, she has been a fixture in the poetry slam community for the past six years. She has performed in just about everywhere--parks, bars, street corners, universities, restaurants, cross-country, internationally-- and with just about everyone from school children to Alice Walker, June Jordan, and Ana Castillo.

Her work can be found in numerous anthologies and magazines, including Revolutionary Voices, Lodestar Quarterly, and Laundry Pen, and through her own publications, published on both Chula and Monkey Press. Her work has often been called "edgy", "political", and "muy caliente". Always looking to fight the good fight, Meliza's work uses humor and personal stories to display larger truths and oppressions. She has co-written the play Starfuckers (2004), is a regular contributor to On Our Backs, andreleased the album Happy Accident (2004). Her first collection of poems, Say It With Your Whole Mouth, can be found on Monkey Press.
