Come on over for a rowdy revolution of song, dance, poetry and art of all forms.

On January 14th WENDY-O MATIK brings her edgy blend of performance poetry to the Three Dollar Bill Café.

WENDY-O-MATIK is a Bay area based freelance writer, published poet, and radical performance artist. She is committed to reaching out to new readers at non-traditional venues, pushing the boundaries of where literature is normally not seen and heard. For the past fifteen years, she has performed her work frequently at high schools, musical events, radical arts demonstrations, art openings, and progressive bookstores throughout the United States, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. She has been a featured performer at Ladyfest London (2002), Ladyfest Melbourne Australia (2003), Ladyfest Auckland, New Zealand (2003), and Ladyfest San Francisco (2004). Future tour dates are in the making for Montreal, Canada (this summer 2005). Her most responsive audience is young people. Wendy-O Matik's largest collective work, Love Like Rage, is published on Manic D Press.

On January 28th revel in the revolutionary tag team antics of horehound stillpoint and Kate Alfieri. One poet will throw down a theme, and then the other throws it back. Sure to be a feisty phenomenon from writers who explore everything from pop culture jargon to the benefits of drinking urine… this is San Francisco at its pervy best!

horehound stillpoint reads his filthy poetry in coffee shops and bars from
San Francisco to Seattle, and from New Orleans to New York City. He's somehow
managed to get material in anthologies from I Do, I Don't to Poetry Nation, and
from Poetry Slam to Men, Amplified. Listen, they don't call him hore for
nothing!
Kate Alfieri has been sharpening up her pen at the Queer Open Mic, and is ready to wow the world with the first ever tag team feature!

Scheduled upcoming featured readers include: Suzy La Follette (2/11), Angie Krass (2/25), Soledad Decosta (3/11) and many many more!

SPECIFIC EVENT DETAILS:
QUEER OPEN MIC (usually)happens on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of every month at the THREE DOLLAR BILL CAFÉ on the first floor of the SF LGBT COMMUNITY CENTER at 1800 Market @ Octavia in SF and is hosted by Cindy M. Emch.

at work - trying to make it through the whole day
if i do, and i am not worse, that is proof that i am getting better
which means i can still play on the radio tomorrow night
which is very much fun, with very small effort
and so i don't wanna miss it

also - i have to get my socializing skills polished up again
open mic is friday, gotta get those charming shoes on :)

doing ok, muddle headed and a little dizzy, but otherwise ok
considering another cup of coffee, had one small one this morning
that went ok, not great, but it helped get me to early afternoon

i want something more
and soon i will ask for it
as soon as i figure out
exactly what that something more
is

ok folks

the friend crush

meaning either: a. platonic friend that you have developed romantic feelings for, or b. new friend that you do not have the sparkly lust for, but you are so excited about them that it feels crush like

experiences with? is this sort of crush a friend or foe to long term relationships? how do you integrate new crush friends into your life?

(questions based on watching A LOT of Sex in the City, Queer as Folk and L Word while sick, and wondering about the core group of friends, how new people join the family of friends we create as we change over time, do friend crushes always mean bad things, how do friend / mind crushes differently impact different people?_

disclosure - i am a big friend crusher (by definition b.) i love shiny new friends, and usually cannot get enough of them. it's part of how i integrate them into my life. part of how we get to know each other. there are so many distractions and friends already in my life that for me, without the fun mind crush thrill of a new friendship it is hard to make those calls, keep those dates, etc. so i think it is my way of making it happen. i am curious about yours...

i am finally starting to feel like myself
kind of
still very fuzzy headed - which may get me taken wrong, but so far i am trying not to say much
the worst part is
i keep forgetting what day it is and feeling very confused
going to bed way early tonight

and though i haven't turned to coffee
caffeinated tea is a-ok with me

i am watching pieces of my mind fall together
and soon it will make sense
i just need to figure out the pattern
there is something and i am getting closer to it
until then
some haiku
