QUEER OPEN MIC
featuring The Reverend Steven Johnson Leyba
Friday April 27, 2007
8pm
Three Dollar Bill Cafe
1800 Market St in SF

In honor of  Walpurgisnacht, the Queer Open Mic (QOM if you're monosyllabic), the bouncy, ballistic and ne'er-boring open mic hosted by Cindy Emch and Sherilyn Connelly, is proud to feature The Reverend Steven Johnson Leyba on Friday, April 27.  He will display recent artwork and read from his memoir, "The Last American Painter."  Open mic performers are welcome to perform art of any style as long as it is one (1) piece that is five (5) minutes or less.  Open Mic sign up begins at 7:30 sharp. Cost is a $1 - $5 donation that helps pay the artist.

Feature Bio
The Reverend Steven Johnson Leyba, a Mescalero Apache, was legally ordained as a priest by Anton Szandor LaVey in 1995.   His works have been collected by the Vincent Price Archive, the William S. Burroughs Archive, Stephen King, Clive Barker, David Cronenberg, H.R. Giger, Cornell University, A.I.M. (American Indian Movement), and the Black Panther Party, among others. A "Sexpressionist," his mixed media canvases contain everything from oil paint and traditional tribal beadwork to his own blood and body fluids.  Internationally known for being controversial, Leyba is extreme, and makes no apologies for it.

This does sound quite interesting. Is he the same guy who a few years ago, or rather ten (!) had a wild party with Danielle Willis that had something to do with football or the football stadium or? It was a scandal as I remember...

Very interesting, congrats on getting this guy.
