As a result of this going around, my friend discovered by calling ahead that her registration form didn't get processed! *maybe the paper was too thick or the person who processed it saw that she marked the box 'independent,' whatever.*
If you're in a state where you have to have a stupid voter id card, not just your driver id & a piece of mail (which is what I think it is in states like Virginia)CHECK YOUR WALLET and make sure you have it! (I am so paranoid, I carry around both my last one AND my most recent one). Otherwise, CALL AHEAD!
If you feel wussy, just remember the people of color & women spinning in their graves who fought for your right to vote & get iron jawed about it!

~ Little rant, but it's a very real problem where I live right now.
