hey writing peoples
Aug. 7th, 2006 09:17 amFrom a pal-o-mine:
This is a really great department, with a variety of talented authors: poets Natasha Trethewey and Kevin Young; literary fiction (including sci-fi/speculative) writer and playwright Jim Grimsley, among others. If you can deal with the political & social conservatism of Georgia (although there are definitely some more liberal areas of Atlanta, and a growing arts scene, plus they just got the MLK papers! and some really good natural foods stores), a lot of traffic, high gas prices, and bad public transporation (think of it like Los Angeles) then check it out. Also, Emory is implementing a number of commuting measures to make it easier to commute without a car.
Pass it on...
