QUEER OPEN MIC is a rowdy rockin’ revolution meant for queers and allies of all stripes, colors,
and affiliations to come together and share rants, raves, poems, thoughts, and general performance anarchy.

March 11th brings the spoken word artist/performer/MC/author solidad decosta

to the microphone. solidad is a mixed race herm/queer woman of black latina maternal ancestry. equal parts street journalist, storyteller and 40 something crone–ta–be with leo

moon credentials, her work encompasses the why and where of life outside the boxes in

a label obsessed world, and the what, when, who and how of everything else.

it's a crazy morning - thank goodness i started this day with wheat grass and espresso
um, not together of course. i think i am going to get a bus pass next month and start riding the personal limo that is public transit. i am spoiled at the old job - parking is easy to find and knock on wood, i am careful enough to avoid tix. but for the new job, not only would the hourly parking kill me, the vandalism wouldn't help either. plus - when it gets more summery here, i often enjoy the freedom of the bus. not having to watch the traffic and get cut off, and and and. i am sitting at my desk and the way the air is blowing in through the window is reminding me of riding the bus across town, sun on my face, wind blowing on me, and excited about going visiting. excited about who i was heading to see, and the coffee and converstation that was just around the corner. dressed up in scanty and silly summer fashion. or antifashion. either way, a charge from feeling less fabric and more skin. there is a specific moment waiting in the wings to be remembered - but right now i just have that feeling

it's the feeling of being almost in love

working working working and trying very hard not to go bagel crazy down in the cafe
2nite i get home, cook a stir fry, put on jazz, and write. alone. in private. where no one can see. later on i will pick up the lady from work and pet pet and try to help her day go away.

but first - i get a few hours, all for me, with some divine weather

happy making

there is something stuck
in my mind
a sesame seed
a popcorn shell
shredding soft skin
lodged in the gey matter
shaving off the edge
that hold the tears away
the membrane that keeps
the shit at bay
brother
neighbor
friend
lover
fuck 'em all
with my broken heart

shocking
