six weird things about me meme

this time around the meme is borrowed from [profile] justin42

1. i almost died as an infant and there is only one baby picture because they had to stick me in an incubator for 6 weeks and i was too orange colored to be photogenic

2. i was 80% deaf until i was about 8 years old, hence my skill at being 'in my own world'

3. i was married. to a man. for about 2 years. this doesn't seem to weird to me, but people tend to react like it is.

4. i don't like to fight, but i when i was a kid i broke my best friends nose twice. once because she dared me to and once because her brother said that if we didn't fight i would have to go home and we couldn't play anymore.

5. i sometimes trust people immediately. way too much.

6. and i have a cat that likes to eat cigarettes, smoke pot, and drink beer and whiskey - though that is more about the cat than me...

oh I almost died as a baby too... and almost went deaf... and almost married a man... so many close calls at such a young age :)

I like your biker cat

i asked muy_macha for help and there are a few more

+ i was once the assistant to a completely insane ex-dominatrix whose girlfriend used to frequently have schitzophrenic episodes in the office and it was part of my job to comfort 5 year old "susie"

+ i talk in my sleep and have been known to walk into a room, fully asleep, appearing fully awake and socialize for hours before going back to bed (good thing i don't have a lot of secrets)

the sleep walking/talking thing.. my pop does that... never know if he's there or not... if he'll remember the conversation or not... it must be odd having folks tell you about things you don't remember saying or doing... like black out drinking without the drinking

yea - it's weird like that
waking up in places that you didn't go to sleep in
my roomates used to love to ask me questions to try and figure out if i was awake

I get that a lot too. "You were married?!? To a man!?!?!?!?!"

Yes, yes I was. Sheesh.

Mnn, dinner, then a stroll upstairs to the photo hard drive.

#5 I have it both ways. I either trust them completely, immediately or I mistrust them for no good reason other than a hunch.

I'm more interested in why it only lasted 2 years. But I suppose that question can't possibly have a pleasant answer.

[identity profile] cindymonkey.livejournal.com 2006-05-08 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
actually the answer isn't super unpleasant.
we were together for about 6.5 years. we got together when i was 18. at year 2 i came fully into the awareness of how gay i really am. we stuck together - but amended to an open relationship, we could each date our own genders totally separately from each other, though gosh it would be nice if everyone was friendly. that worked for a long time. and then i met someone that i didn't want to have to share time for. someone i wanted all to myself. so i told him no more. we're still friendly. though not as much friends since he got remarried. the new wife isn't my biggest fans.

I'm interested in what happened at age eight - how did you get your hearing back? I grew up partly deaf too, and I'm still in my own little world.
