and one more

so in lieu of visiting my family this year, and in trying to prevent permanent nostalgia damage, i am going to buy a michigan nature calendar

dorky but true

problem is i want to get one that is mostly upper peninsula / keewenaw bay / iron mountain / lake superior esque

now in those areas of course you can find calendars of local nature hot spots - but the question is - how do i find one from here? so far the internet has given me a couple of generic michigan ones, that will work just fine i am sure, but aren't exactly what i want

and the idea of having the family grab one won't work, they live too far away from the u.p. first off, and second, well, I asked my mom to take a photo of a lake that is 2 miles from her house and send it to me, she promised to do it and send it right away, that was in july.

anyone bored at work who wants to help me find links? i greatly appreciate it

xoxo

you are so cool

is it wrong that i want to buy them all?

Nah I say do it. Why the hell not. In fact you could convince some friends around here to buy you multiple copies and post them all over your house, if that meant you were gonna stay in the bay area.
Just a thought.

i do wonder if that will work

i just miss being surrounded by trees

all i want to do is sit in an old grove of oine trees and listen to that wind

sigh

i could find that in marin - but who can afford to live in marin?

That is why you just have to drive somewhere, or head up the Berkeley hills. Get out for the day more often. There are some great parks around here, in the east bay and beyond. One day we should do a road trip and head out of the area for the day. I can fit plenty of people in the truck. I *have* to get my fill of trees too, so I just hit the road.

i love day trips
we try to get out of town to take the dog out to fort funston, to muir beach, etc

there is a great redwood stand out in the oakland hills - it is a good walk

anyway - that is all to say that yes I would love to do a day trip in the truck :)

i have been so *practical* as of late that i haven't even been making it to the beach and my spirit just starts starving, especially this time of year, if i don't get to the trees.

trees and lakes - they're my religion

Hey check out the wild and scenic calender. It looks incredible. I can see why you might miss it occasionally :-p

the second one down - michigan nature
is just brilliant too
the back cover close up shows some of the great water wild of the U.P. although it is a bit lacking in the autumn...

this is why i want to buy them all actually
everyone of them made me smile for a different memory

I grew up in East Lansing. And your subject line made me laugh out loud at my desk, btw.

it's is one of my favorite things to say

i grew up in howell - out in the farmland
went to school in east lansing though

lately i have been missing quality dairy
and being able to say "hey let's go to qd"
people seem to get that even less than the whole party store thing :)

I know where Howell is! And boy do I miss QD. Of course a lot of Quality Dairys are gone already even back home. Milk in a bag, though. Milk in a bag!

i love that everytime i go home i have to drive by the road sign to hell, mi
